I need more info about it. Please provide a screenshot, the address you're seeing in your address bar, your browser name and version, or anything that will help me understand what's wrong.

Support for Adaware
Adaware installs by default Lavasoft Web Companion. This appilcation changes the default search engine and home page in all web browsers to one controlled by Lavasoft. Its Installation can be prevented by unchecking an option during the installation. It would be nice if Unchecky could do this by default.

New Adware Blocking Unchecky Download
Just a quick note to say I found an Adware at work today which blocked Uncheckys download link on the unchecky.com website. It placed a fake download banner over the download button and scrolled with the page. First time Ive seen anything like that.
A slight change to the Unchecky.com site should get around this. If I can get a copy of the adware i'll let you know.

It sounds like you were a victim of a variant of an ad injection. Unfortunately, there's not much that we can do with the website of Unchecky to avoid that.

The auto-updating mechanism was improved in newer Unchecky versions, and the issue was probably fixed. If you still experiencing problems, please leave a reply or create a new topic.
