False positive when installing Tribes: Ascend
Unchecky warns you that you may be about to install unwanted software when you attempt to accept the license agreement for the game. Tribes: Ascend is a free to play first person shooter. At the time of this post, the installer doesn't include any bundled software.
The installer is located here: http://www.hirezstudios.com/tribesascend/home/sidebar/tribes-download (approx 50mb)
Add support for Live Soft Action installers (LopeSoft)
I had some trouble identifying the company behind the actual installer. It doesn't look like something LopeSoft themselves designed.
I noticed that it downloads the msi to a temporary folder. A more efficientway of bypassing the downloader/installer could be something like the following:
- Detect a downloader / installer of this type.
- Determine the URL the downloader intends on using by examining the EXE. (hopefully this is possible)
- Terminate the installer / downloader (possibly notifying the user.)
- Download the MSI / installer directly.
- Execute the downloaded file under the same user account the downloader was initially executed as.
Alternatively, a browser extension may be able to redirect the download to the actual installer instead of the downloader. I'm not sure how possible this is.
can you guys add support for install iq
Freemake Video Downloader
Unmarks not during the installation of Freemake Video Downloader
Thank you
Are you talking about the statistics checkbox?
Unchecky does not handle those kinds of checkboxes. Statistics/crash reports are not a PUP.

Lost all entries in my HOSTS file
I've had the exact same problem as this guy
I had a LOT of custom entries in my HOSTS file, including a lot to get rid of ads, but in the past couple of days I've noticed I am seeing ads again, so I looked in my HOSTS file, and the only entries are for localhost and Unchecky, as much as I liked it, and it seems to work, if it's destroying my HOSTS file, I have no choice but to uninstall it!!
There isn't a backup of the HOSTS file at all, and I'm not sure I have a recent one myself, I hope you don't just dismiss this like the other guys, and actually have a look, obviously it's a REAL BUG, and causing REAL PROBLEMS, could you at the least attempt to work out why, rather than just dismiss it because of "a lack of feedback", not that I can think of what else could be added. If you need I can include a copy of the hosts file since it's now very short ...
Thank you for the detailed report, it does sound like a real issue.
As explained in the other thread, Unchecky uses special comment markers to mark the beginning and the end of the block that it added. We tested the mechanism extensively, and found that it works very well.
One issue that I can think of is that your hosts file is being managed by some other program, which reordered the comment blocks of Unchecky. Is that the case?
One possible way to remedy similar problems in the future is to backup the hosts file before modifying it. We will consider it for the future versions of Unchecky.
Lollipop
False positive on EMCO Unlock IT
It presents no risk as far as I can tell. Thing is even If I want to continue with the install I can't use the mouse anymore, I have to use the keyboard to navigate throught the installer.
