As I understand it, you're suggesting something similar to WOT for installers.
While this might be a good idea, this is currently out of scope for Unchecky.

If a new version of Unchecky is going to cause problems, how does the fact that it was installed manually (and not automatically) change anything?
If you think you know better, Unchecky provides an option to disable automatic updates under Advanced settings.

Notifications about new versions are not planned for the near future. The best I can offer now is making an RSS feed of the changelog available. Then, you could use an RSS reader to get notifications about new versions. Is that good enough?

An option to show an icon in the system tray is planned as an optional feature.

Actually, I've tried to write a BHO for IE, but it turned out that it's not as simple as I hoped it would be. So I'll need help with this one.
If you're experienced with writing BHO plugins for IE, and/or plugins/extensions for Firefox/Chrome, and would like to contribute some code, please contact me.
